Privacy policy.
Ambience is a one-off purchase app that runs entirely on your device. There's no account, no sign-in, no telemetry, no analytics, no tracking. The app doesn't phone home because there's no home to phone.
That's the whole story for most people. Full details below if you want them.
The app
Ambience runs locally on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Your settings, presets, setlists and audio output stay on your device.
What we don't collect
- Personal data of any kind
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Device identifiers (advertising IDs, IDFA, etc.)
- Audio you make with the app
- Setlist names, preset names or other user-generated content
What we do collect
Nothing.
The app has no account system, no sign-up, no sign-in. There's no server we operate that the app talks to. No third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or telemetry SDKs are bundled in the build.
Things outside our control
When you buy or update the app, Apple handles the transaction and may collect data per their privacy policy. This includes anonymised crash reports if you've opted in to share them with developers in your iOS / macOS settings.
If you're in a TestFlight beta, Apple shares anonymised diagnostics with us via TestFlight. You can opt out of crash sharing in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
This website
norcoastaudio.com is a static marketing page. It runs in your browser and does the following:
- Loads the Open Sans typeface from Google Fonts. Google may log standard request data (IP, user agent) when your browser fetches the font - their privacy policy covers that.
- That's it. No analytics, no cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts, no fingerprinting.
The site is hosted on Railway, which serves the page to your browser. Standard server access logs (IP, timestamp, request path) are kept by Railway as part of normal hosting operations. See Railway's privacy policy.
Permissions the app asks for
Ambience requests only what's strictly needed for the features it offers:
- Bluetooth - used solely to discover and pair Bluetooth MIDI controllers. No scanning data is collected, transmitted or stored anywhere. If you don't use a Bluetooth MIDI controller, this permission stays unused.
- iCloud - used solely to sync your preset library and setlists across your iPhone and iPad. Data is stored in Apple's iCloud key-value storage on your own Apple ID. Norcoast can't read it, and it never touches a server we operate.
That's the entire list. The app does not request Microphone, Camera, Location, Contacts, Photos, or any other permission.
Children
Ambience is suitable for all ages. Because we don't collect any data, there are no special concerns under children's privacy laws (COPPA in the US, GDPR-K in the EU/UK).
Your rights
If you're in the EU, UK or California, data-protection laws give you rights over personal data a company holds about you - access, correction, deletion, portability. Since we don't hold any personal data about you, there's nothing to access, correct, delete or port. If you'd like written confirmation of that for your records, email us.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the date at the top will change. There's no email list to notify you because we don't have your email.
